(4 Oct 2019) Republican House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) members reacted negatively to the ongoing impeachment inquiry into the declassified whistleblower complaint and the Intelligence Community Inspector General’s letter regarding the complaint.
GOP members voiced concern that the committee’s majority are inappropriately conducting their investigation by being both witnesses and prosecutors in the probe.
HPSCI Minority Member Rep.John Ratcliffe said, the inspector general for the intelligence community can provide “no information about the contacts between the HPSCI majority and the whistleblower prior to his involvement. So the only way that we’ll be able to get that information is from the HPSCI majority themselves. They are fact witnesses in the same investigation that they are now running.”
