(3 Nov 2019) HALSEY, DUA LIPA AND NIALL HORAN REVEAL MUSIC NEWS AT MTV EMAS
Halsey says to expect the “unexpected” from her new album.
Tilted “Manic,” the new release, which is due out in January 2020, is “full of different stuff,” according to the singer.
Speaking at the MTV EMAs in Seville on Sunday (3NOV19), Halsey said “it’s really honest. The whole thing is a rollercoaster ride, it’s different from one song to the next.”
Halsey was not the only artist that took the opportunity to promote their new music.
Dua Lipa described her sophomore album, “DL2,” which is due out soon, as “really fun.”
“I guess, because everybody says that the second album is so hard I’ve tried not to give myself that pressure and just had fun with it,” she said. “I feel like you can dance along to every song. It’s quite disco orientated but with new sounds and I’m just so excited for everyone to hear it.”
One Direction’s Niall Horan noted that his upcoming tour with Lewis Capaldi and new music were all “coming very soon.”
And revealed that there “maybe another single before Christmas and then album in the new year.”
He performed his latest single “Nice to Meet Ya” for the show.
Also singing at the event was Seoul based boyband, NCT 127, who revealed they were “very nervous” ahead of their performance.
“But we’re very excited to show our fans in Europe a great performance. And I hope everybody is looking forward to us,” said singer Johnny.
Representing Spain, Rosalia performed as well as Akon, who teamed up with host Becky G to perform their reggaeton hit “Como NO” from his first Spanish language album.
Akon said writing an album entirely in Spanish “was a must.”
“Because you know I was raised by Puerto Ricans in New Jersey, so I had to do it,” he said.
This year’s red carpet kicked off in style with a performance from Brazilian drag queen and singer/songwriter Pabllo Vittar and then closed with a performance from Mexican superstar Sofia Reyes, and Puerto Rican rapper Jhay Cortez.
Ariana Grande lead the nominations once again with nods in seven categories including, Best Artist, Best Pop, Best Live and Best Song for ‘7 Rings’.
She was closely followed by Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X and Sean Mendes who all had six nominations at this year’s awards.
Liam Gallagher was at the show to pick up the first ever MTV EMA Rock Icon award.
