Coronavirus outbreak: Dr. Anthony Fauci updates House committee on COVID-19 response

Dr. Anthony Fauci, spoke to lawmakers on Wednesday about fundiing for national health efforts amid coronavirus concerns. Fauci, the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases spoke to members of a House Appropriations subcommittee on the National Institutes of Health 2021 budget request.

Fauci provided the latest developments into the research the NIH has conducted into the novel coronavirus and how research into past viruses like SARS has aided in this latest outbreak.

Fauci also discussed the measures being taken to the combat the virus including how testing restrictions for the coronavirus had been lifted by the FDA.

He met on Tuesday with U.S. president Donald Trump and briefed him on the NIH efforts to combat coronavirus. More than 100 cases have been confirmed in the United States by health officials.
